First Step House Program

The First Step House program is the premier program of our Adult Development program. The First Step House is a transitional housing program for women in transition, recovering from substance abuse, prostitution or other marginalizing behaviors.

The program objective is to provide a safe place for each participant who is committed to working past their substance use and addictive behaviors. Our goal is for each woman to:
  • Become gainfully employed
  • Secure permanent housing
  • Maintain their sobriety in the process
While subsidized self-pay and sponsored pay is accepted; we currently do not accept insurance billing.

 Adult Computer Classes

Our adult computer classes are designed to provide basic technology literacy in computer use and basic on-line platforms. With an ever-changing technological world, we are driven to electronic platforms. The elderly and disadvantaged struggle to keep up – UMCH steps in.
